This year’s Coaches Week is from November 13 –20 and we feel it is important to dedicate this time to thank the coaches in our community. Parks and Leisure Services, in collaboration with Coach NB, are offering the following initiatives, FREE of charge, which will be taking place throughout Moncton. We hope you will take advantage of the following opportunities!

These Professional Development workshops have been developed by the Coaching Association of Canada to enhance your coaching ability and to enable you to provide a high standard of sport coaching for your athletes.

NCCP Multi Sport Module “Resistance Training”

When: Saturday, November 15 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
Where: St. Pat’s Family Centre, 34 Providence Street, Moncton

  • A must-have for competitive coaches, this dynamic and interactive introductory workshop will teach you how to prevent injuries and increase athlete performance through proven resistance training tools. Become a better coach by augmenting your plan with elements such as: Basic lifts; Stability training; and Core training.
Podium Performance Series - Tips on how to deal with parents in sports

When: Sunday, November 16 (6:30 to 8 p.m.)
Where: Crossman Community Centre/Kay Arena, 99 Wynwood Drive, Moncton
  • This presentation will be presented by Mark Smith, Director of Coaching for the Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic. He will explore different ways to overcome the perceived challenges in dealing with parents in sports (topics will include how to build a positive environment).
Information Session on Concussions

When: Tuesday, November 18 (6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.)
Where: Crossman Community Centre/Kay Arena, 99 Wynwood Drive, Moncton
  • This information session will be presented by Dr. Jeff Pike, Chief of Neurosciences at the Moncton Hospital.
